Katarzyna Kobeszko:
Katarzyna is a 17 year old senior currently attending the Susan E. Wagner High School on Staten Island. In school, she is a member of the National Honor Society with her 4.0 G.P.A. She has been an active member within her school community, participating in activities such as the Spring Musical, the Latin Fair, and International Festival to name a few. For three years, she was the Captain of the Polish Club, where she organizes traditional Polish dances and dresses in traditional Krakowskie garb. She attended the Henryk Sienkiewicz Polish Supplementary School, where she was able to participate in various literary and writing competitions. She received third place in the Tadeusz Kosciuszko Essay Contest as well as first place in the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Professional Women’s Association essay contest. She enjoyed learning about the Polish language, history, and traditions so much that she currently works as a teacher’s assistant for a first grade class. Outside of school, Katarzyna is a member of the Polish Scouting Organization ZHPpgk. For the past two years she has been the Scoutmaster of a young group of scouts known as “Ladybugs”. She also volunteered at the annual Snug Harbor Polish Festival where she assisted with arts and crafts and face painting. For as long as she can remember, her Polish heritage has been a constant throughout her life. Being a member of the Polish community has been incredibly important in her life, and she values the Polonia of Staten Island and the various organizations that she takes part in. To be able to represent the Polish community of Staten Island, a community that has done so much for her, as Miss Polonia would be a great honor.
Gabriela Krzak
Gabriela Krzak is nine years old. She was born in Brooklyn, New York. She is a fourth grader in P.S.52 The John C.Thompson School in Staten Island and a fourth grader of the Polish Supplementary School at Henryk Sienkiewicz in Brooklyn. Some activities she enjoys in school are mathematics and chorus, as well as gymnastics and camping.
